Event Info

Awards / Results - The top 3 winners will be awarded and results will be posted in the following groups.  All finish times will be calculated using the appropriate gun time so please BE SURE YOU START IN THE CORRECT WAVE.

Adult Races:

  • Overall Male / Female
  • Age Groups
  • Weight Groups
  • Relay Teams

Communication Plan – Prior to the race, establish a communication plan with family and friends. Share relevant information with your emergency contact. It is essential that you have a plan for contacting or reuniting with your group following your race.

Post Race Meal – FREE for all athletes, but sorry… the post race meal is for athletes only.
Raffle – Don’t miss the awards ceremony & raffle!  All athletes will be eligible to win!
Lost & Found – A Lost & Found will be available at the Flatirons Timing Tent located near the finish line. Any items retrieved from the course and left in transition will be made available for two weeks after the event. After the two week claim period, items will be donated. Please contact to schedule the return for your lost (and found) item. Shipping charges may apply.
Finish Line Etiquette  – Friends & Family can join you as you cross the finish line. Make sure they are positioned at the beginning of the finish line chute to meet you. Please be aware of other athletes around you.
Finish Line Policy – Each athlete will be given adequate time to catch their breath and celebrate their accomplishment. We ask that each athlete immediately continue on to the food tent & Expo, as not to interfere with other finishers and ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and fans. Allow yourself time to receive your finisher medal, water bottle, recovery drink & fruit and EXIT the finish tent. The finish tent can get crowded. Athletes will NOT BE ALLOWED to loiter.
Medical – An ambulance staffed with paramedics will be positioned near the finish line. First aid kits will be available at every aid station on the course.
Wave Starts – It is recommended that you arrive at the race site 1 hour ahead of your wave start time so you can hydrate, position your gear, check your bike, get body marked, and utilize the porta-johns at a leisurely pace. You should be down by the water with your wave at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start of your wave. Each wave is based on Distance and in some cases, Age & Gender. Each wave will have a distinct swim cap color. You should plan extra time for traffic or parking delays.
Parking – The Boulder Reservoir gate will be open to athletes at 5:00am on race morning. There is plenty of parking at the Res, but please account for unexpected parking or traffic delays. If you arrive after the start of the race, you will be required to pay the regular entrance fee.
Course Cut-Off Times – Course cut-off times can be found on the race day schedule. BBSC has the right to remove an athlete from the course and DNF the athlete if the course coordinator determines there is no possibility of finishing within the allotted time frame, based on the athlete’s location, time and average speed. But please don’t be worried about this! We have very generous cut-off times. If it does happen, you’ll get to ride back in style, in our Official BBSC Truck!
Aid Station Support – The number and location of aid stations is specified in your race guide. The general offerings at each aid station will include Water, Gatorade, Hammer Gels and even more Water!
Bike Support – A bike technician will be available near transition on race morning.  A bike support vehicle will roam the course during the bike portion of the race.  If you have an issue and need support, find the nearest aid station or tell a fellow athlete to alert the aid station ahead of your situation. Aid stations will be equipped to radio bike support. Remember, bike support may be preoccupied somewhere else on the course, so prepare yourself as best you can to avoid a need for bike support. Tip:  To avoid a flat, wait until race morning to inflate your tires to the proper air pressure. However, pumps will not be allowed in transition so plan to give your pump to a friend or leave it in your vehicle.
Relays – All members must be present to pick up the race packet. This is a USAT rule that will not be ignored. Each member must have either a USAT membership or pay $12 for a one-day license (cash only). Relays must hand off the timing chip inside the transition. The receiving member MUST have the chip strap secured on their ankle before leaving transition. Exchanges can take place anywhere in transition.
Boulder Reservoir – All participants must abide by the rules implemented by the Boulder Reservoir at all times. No glass is allowed. No dogs are allowed. Please review all other Boulder Reservoir Rules Here.
Zero Waste – TRI BOULDER is a zero waste event. Please dispose of all trash and recyclable containers properly. Keep the Res clean by depositing cigarette butts and other waste in appropriate waste containers. Leaving litter on the beach or park grounds is prohibited.
Timing – Flatirons Event Specialists will be timing TRI BOULDER. Timing mats will be positioned at each entrance of transition and at the finish line. Five splits will be taken from these mats; swim, T1, bike, T2 and run. Finish times will be posted at the timing trailer near the finish line. Results will continually be updated throughout the day. Final results and splits will be posted online at by the end of the day.
Bib Transfers – As noted in the waiver that was signed upon completion of registration, bibs are non-transferable and cannot be transferred from one person to another. Your bib provides us with very important information identifying you. This extends to purposes including our medical team, scoring and timing. Transferring bibs would compromise these processes severely. We appreciate your cooperation with honoring this important requirement. Violation of this rule may prohibit you from participating in all future BBSC events and banned from all USAT sanctioned events. Thank you for your understanding.
Volunteers – Volunteers help support you from the minute you pick up your packet to the time you cross the finish line and beyond. Volunteers are the key to making our races successful. Tell your friends & family about our volunteer program! Click Here to visit our volunteer page. All volunteers receive a commemorative shirt and more!
Water Temperature – The water temperature at the Boulder Res is expected to be mid 70s.  Wetsuits are suggested, but not required.
Event Survey – We want to hear about your experience in the 2014 TRI BOULDER. Shortly after the event, you will receive an email with a link to an online survey that will ask you questions about your participation in the event. The information gathered from this survey will help us continue to provide you with the best possible race experience in future years. Thanks in advance for your participation in this important process.
