Athletes will keep the first and last buoys on their right as they swim this rectangular swim course, with all other buoys kept on their left. Starting and finishing at the Boulder Beach South Access Ramp, athletes will swim slightly right out to the first buoy, then follow the counter-clockwise course. Half athletes will turn left at the 3rd green buoy. Kayaks, sea doos, boats & lifeguards will be in the water to support all athletes. If you need a rest, while in the water, waive your arms or simply swim to the nearest kayak. You may hold on to any vessel without penalty as long as there is no forward propulsion. If you need to cut your swim short for any reason, let the water support team member know, and they will bring you in to shore.

All athletes will begin the bike portion of their race by exiting the top of transition, then making a right-hand turn on Lakeshore Dr. At about the 10 mile point, you will turn right on Northshore Rd and start some serious but scenic climbing. The views are stunning this time of year! After about 18 miles on Northshore, athletes will turn around and return the way they came, coming back to Boulder Beach and their transition area. There will be 3 aid stations, at or near miles 18, 38 & 50.
NOTE: This course is OPEN TO TRAFFIC. Please follow all staff, marshal and law enforcement instructions.

There is nothing like this course! Runners will exit the bottom of transition (where they entered from the swim), and will make a hard right onto the trail. Follow the trail out to a well marked right hand turn, then up to another right onto the paved road. At about the 1.5 mile point, runners will turn left onto the oncoming shoulder of the Boulder Beach South Access Road. Just .2 miles later, runners will turn left onto the River Mountains Loop Trail and continue for approximately 2 miles before reaching the trailhead to the Historic Railroad Hiking Trail, used when building the Great Hoover Dam! The time you spend on this trail will take your breath away with 5 huge tunnels and stellar views of Lake Mead! This is a nice graded dirt road, nothing technical. Athletes will hit the turnaround and head back the way you came. There will be 6 aid stations on this course, allowing for 12 opportunities to fuel up!
