Important Boulder Beach Update! We want to keep you updated on the status of the new chip-seal that was put in by Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LMNRA) at Boulder Beach right before the 2012 Pumpkinman Triathlon. We’ve recently checked it with our own bare feet : The chip-seal has gotten smoother, but is still rough on the feet… especially sensitive ones! We want you to be prepared, so we encourage you to bring your own sandals or shoes. We will offer a ‘mini-transition’ immediately out of the water. Any sandals left at the end of the race will be donated to Soles4Souls. *LMNRA will not allow carpet or turf in the park anymore due to the risk of contaminating national park soil & water.*

The weather for next Saturday looks fabulous, with a high of 92 and mostly sunny! Hope you all are as excited as we are! Gear up for the 2012 Kokopelli Triathlon coming up in ONE WEEK! A reminder to all registered athletes: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW YOUR COURSE!!! We will have directional signs, markings & volunteers to help guide you, but if you want this to be your BEST RACE EVER, make sure that you study the course maps posted online. Special Attention SG Olympic Distance Athletes-

Unfortunately, the road we were planning to use going north of 3000 S did not get repaved as expected. After viewing current conditions we have determined that it would be unsafe for athletes and have made the decision to eliminate that portion of the course entirely. Because 32.8k is within the acceptable range allowed by USAT, rest assured that this will still qualify as an Olympic distance race.
